All our spectacle blinds are manufactured using carbon steel, chromoly steel, and stainless steel, as well as other specialty metals. All spectacle blinds are manufactured to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B16.48 standard unless otherwise specified, and can be custom manufactured to client specifications.

Spectacle Blinds
Keddco provides figure-8 blanks (spectacle blinds), which are pressure-retaining plates with one solid end and one open end that are connected by a web or tie bar. Separating one part of a line from another requires a spectacle blind, which can switch from closed to open, and back again. Keddco covers line blanks following the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) classes of 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500 and 2500.
Single Blinds & Spacers
A single blind provides closure, while a spacer ring keeps a line open. We provide Class 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500 blinds and spacers in accordance with ASME B16.48.
Vented Single Blinds
Vent blinds allow one side of the blind to stop flow while the other side gives access to purge or relieve process flow. Vent blinds are useful when there is no valve present to clear piping prior to maintenance requiring line and equipment opening.
Ring Joints
A Ring Type Joint (RTJ) flange is an industrial joint designed to withstand high-pressure and high-temperature operations. We provide Class 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500 female ring-joint facing figure-8 blanks in accordance with the ANSI B16.5.

Quality
Keddco uses ASTM A516-70N (normalized with the Charpy impact test or Charpy V-notch test) plate as the standard for the manufacturing of spectacle blinds, spacers, blinds, and bleed rings. This material meets the sour service requirements dictated by the most current revision of the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) specifications. Spectacle blinds, spacers, blind and bleed rings manufactured from stainless steels and alloys also comply with AMPP MR0103 and MR0175/ISO 15156-3.
